Fees for complete midwifery care

"Many people have asked if hiring Annie cost a lot. I always answer... " it did cost, but we spent nearly twice as much on our second hand car!". For our family, my pregnancies and birth experiences have, and always will be, some of the biggest adventures of our lives. To have the care of one experienced professional midwife, a woman who needed no birth plan because she became a friend who knew what we all wanted, was invaluable, priceless. Thank you Annie!" (mother of 2nd baby)

Free initial pre-booking meeting so that you can meet me, ask me questions, discuss your needs and wishes and explore whether I'm the right midwife for you.

If you are expecting your first baby:

Your care includes all the reassurance of having me as your midwife during your pregnancy, baby's birth and in those first few weeks after the birth and knowing that during your baby's birth, I will be with you, supporting you, believing in you, encouraging you and caring for you and your baby, as well as your partner and any family members or friends you want to be involved.

24/7 on call access to me from booking until last visit. (If I'm going to take a holiday, this will only be arranged following discussion with you, always before your baby is 37 weeks and 24/7 access to another Independent Midwife will be provided.)

As many home visits (each lasting approximately 2 hours) as you would like or are clinically indicated, for antenatal care, informative discussion, planning and preparation for the birth.

Labour and birth at home and/or support and advocacy in hospital

As many postnatal visits as you would like or are clinically indicated until your baby is 4 weeks old.

If you are expecting your second or subsequent baby:

Care as outlined above

Fee: £2000 for all your care, plus travel expenses at 40p/mile.

"Once we had booked Annie as our midwife we both felt so much more relaxed and peaceful and really enjoyed the rest of the pregnancy and birth. Looking back, Annie's care was worth so much more than what she charged, even though it felt like a big commitment for us at the start!" (parents of first baby)

Payment of fees...

After you have booked me, at my first visit I ask for a deposit of an amount that demonstrates you're serious. (Typically £500)

The remainder to be paid by arrangement, following discussion between us, depending on your circumstances. Often it is divided up as monthly instalments, which can if really necessary, continue beyond the birth. I can provide my bank details so that a standing order can be set up.

The fee remains the same regardless of stage of pregnancy at booking and regardless of place or type of birth.

"Annie took time to explain her fee structure and issues around insurance." (parents of 2nd baby)

I appreciate booking me as your midwife is a major expense…. Grandparents-to-be sometimes contribute to the payment and I have known several couples use the increase in value of their house to put my fee on their mortgage! If there is any aspect of my fee structure you do not understand, please ask me. It is difficult to explain how having a trusting relationship with one, experienced midwife can make such an enormous difference to how you feel about yourself, as well as how it can affect your birth and relationship with your baby. Research has shown that one to one care, can half the likelihood of a caesarean birth, shorten labour and dramatically reduce the need for pain relief. But what I offer is so much more than that… far reaching holistic support!

"Having Annie as my midwife was well worth the money!" (mother of 2nd baby).
